Dr Cian Keogh

Dr Cian Keogh is an Irish-born, Australian-trained specialist colorectal surgeon who provides care at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Spring Hill, and also works in the public system through Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH) and the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS).  He completed his medical degree at Trinity College, Dublin in 2010 and undertook specialist surgical training in Brisbane through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), achieving Fellowship (FRACS) in 2020.

Dr Keogh has completed further subspecialist training in internationally respected colorectal units, including St James’s Hospital, Dublin, and the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. In 2023, he returned to Australia as a visiting consultant surgeon at St Andrew’s, RBWH and STARS, before spending a year at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, where he undertook advanced training in pelvic malignancy and robotic colorectal surgery.

Having called Brisbane home since 2011, Dr Keogh returned permanently with his young family in 2025 to continue his consultant roles across St Andrew’s, RBWH and STARS, where he remains committed to providing long-term care to the local community.

Dr Keogh treats conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anus, with particular interests in colorectal cancer, advanced rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disorders. His practice focuses on minimally invasive surgery, including robotic and laparoscopic techniques, with an emphasis on clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and supporting patients through their treatment and recovery.
